This Privacy Policy explains how YapTask collects, uses, and protects information for the YapTask iOS app and related services.

By using YapTask, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. This policy is effective as of May 17, 2026.

Information We Collect

YapTask collects the information needed to provide a voice-first personal task list:

  • Account information: During beta, YapTask uses Sign in with Apple. We use account identifiers and any account details Apple provides to authenticate you and connect your app data to your account.
  • Task and list content: We store your lists, tasks, subtasks, statuses, ordering, and related task-list state so the app can display and synchronize your data.
  • Commands and assistant results: When you type or speak a command, we store command transcripts, summaries, validated assistant operations, operation logs, model metadata, error states, and timeline data needed for app functionality, undo/redo, support, and audit.
  • Voice input: If you use voice, the app records a short command and sends it through trusted backend code for server-side transcription with Groq Whisper. YapTask-owned app and backend storage does not keep raw audio recordings after the transcription request. Typed commands remain available.
  • Usage and diagnostic events: We record privacy-bounded operational facts such as command lifecycle state, model usage/cost, latency, coarse error codes, limit decisions, and retry or undo outcomes. These events do not include raw audio, task titles, transcript text, prompts, model responses, or operation envelopes.
  • Crash and performance diagnostics: We use Sentry to collect crash reports, unhandled errors, traces, profiles, logs, and device or app diagnostics that help us find and fix problems. YapTask configures Sentry without default personally identifying information and disables screenshot and view-hierarchy capture.
  • Support and beta feedback: If you contact support or submit TestFlight feedback, we may receive your email address, message body, screenshots or comments you choose to submit, crash feedback, app/build/OS metadata, timestamps, and a local support reference.

How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • App functionality: Authenticate your account, synchronize lists and tasks, execute typed and voice commands, show assistant summaries, and support immediate undo/redo.
  • Voice transcription and command execution: Transcribe short voice commands and interpret commands into validated task-list operations.
  • Reliability and support: Diagnose crashes, failed commands, transcription problems, account issues, and other support requests.
  • Safety and abuse prevention: Enforce service limits, prevent misuse, and protect the app and backend services.

Third-Party Services

YapTask uses third-party services to provide the app:

  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store and TestFlight services, and beta feedback submitted through TestFlight.
  • Convex: Authentication, backend storage, realtime sync, command history, undo/redo state, validation, and trusted backend functions.
  • Groq: Server-side command interpretation and Groq Whisper transcription for short voice commands.
  • Sentry: Crash, error, performance, profile, and log diagnostics.
  • Vercel: Hosting and website analytics for this public website.

We share information with these providers only as needed for app functionality, diagnostics, support, security, and service operations. Provider retention and processing are governed by their terms and privacy policies.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information. YapTask also provides these controls:

  • Voice is optional: You can use typed commands if you do not want to use the microphone or if transcription is unavailable.
  • Support content is your choice: Support emails and TestFlight feedback may include details you choose to provide. Do not include sensitive task content unless it is needed for your support request.
  • Account deletion: You can delete your account from the app. Account deletion removes YapTask-owned account, task, list, command, timeline, usage, and support data associated with your account, subject to legal or operational retention requirements.

Data Security

We use security measures designed to protect information transmitted to and stored by YapTask and its providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected users as required by law.

YapTask is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will take immediate steps to delete it.

YapTask may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any significant changes, we will notify you by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Your continued use of YapTask after any changes to the policy constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
