Welcome to YapTask!

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of YapTask (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “YapTask”), a voice-first personal task list for iOS, and any related services provided by YapTask.

By accessing or using YapTask, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the app.

1. App Overview

YapTask is a personal, voice-first task list for iOS. You can create, update, complete, delete, and organize lists, tasks, and subtasks by typing commands, speaking short voice commands, or using direct task-list controls. YapTask uses trusted backend services for realtime sync, server-side voice transcription, assistant command interpretation, validated task-list operations, command summaries, and immediate undo/redo.

2. User Data and Privacy

2.1 Data Collection and Use

YapTask requires certain personal information for authentication and service provision:

  • Authentication: During beta, the app uses Sign in with Apple. Account information is used to verify your identity and connect app data to your account.
  • Task data: Lists, tasks, subtasks, task status, ordering, command history, assistant summaries, operation logs, and timeline recovery data are stored through Convex so the app can function and synchronize.
  • Voice commands: If you use voice, YapTask records a short command and sends it through trusted backend code to Groq Whisper for server-side transcription. YapTask-owned app and backend storage does not keep raw audio recordings after the transcription request. Typed commands remain available.
  • Diagnostics and support: YapTask may collect privacy-bounded usage events, crash/error diagnostics, TestFlight feedback, and support-contact information to operate, improve, and support the app.

2.2 Data Security

We use security measures designed to protect information transmitted to and stored by YapTask and its providers. Absolute security cannot be guaranteed, and users are responsible for maintaining control of their Apple account and device access.

2.3 Data Retention and Deletion

User data is retained while the account is active and as needed to provide app functionality, security, diagnostics, support, and legal compliance. You can delete your account from the app. Account deletion removes YapTask-owned account, task, list, command, timeline, usage, and support data associated with your account, subject to legal or operational retention requirements.

3. Beta Access and Payments

3.1 Beta Access

YapTask may be offered as a beta through TestFlight before general release. Beta features may change, break, be unavailable, or be removed without notice.

3.2 Payments

YapTask does not offer paid plans in the current beta. If paid plans are introduced later, the app and these Terms will be updated before purchase flows are enabled.

3.3 TestFlight Feedback

If you submit feedback through TestFlight, Apple may provide YapTask with the screenshots, comments, crash feedback, device/app details, and optional contact information included with that feedback.

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Accuracy of Data

Users are responsible for the accuracy of the data they provide, including the voice commands issued to the app. YapTask interprets commands based on AI algorithms, and while it aims to provide accurate results, users should verify the app's output.

4.2 Account Security

Users should not share their YapTask accounts with others and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. YapTask is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorized access due to a user's failure to secure their account.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

5.1 Prohibited Use

Users agree not to use YapTask for any illegal, harmful, abusive, or malicious activity, including but not limited to:

  • Violating any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Engaging in activities that disrupt the App's functionality or user experience
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users.

5.2 Commercial Use Limitations

The app is intended for personal use. Users wishing to use YapTask for commercial purposes must seek explicit permission and may be subject to separate terms.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

6.1 Ownership and License

YapTask owns the intellectual property rights to the App's features, functionality, and content. Users are granted a limited, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes only.

6.2 User-Generated Content

Any content added by users remains their responsibility. Users must ensure that their content does not infringe on the rights of others.

7. Liability and Disclaimer

7.1 Limitation of Liability

YapTask shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the app, including errors in interpreting voice commands or issues with task synchronization. YapTask is provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

7.2 Third-Party Services Disclaimer

YapTask integrates third-party services such as Apple, Convex, Groq, Sentry, and Vercel. These services support authentication, backend storage and sync, assistant command execution, voice transcription, diagnostics, website hosting, and beta feedback. YapTask does not guarantee their availability, performance, or accuracy and disclaims liability for issues arising from third-party services to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Updates and Changes to Terms

YapTask reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users will be notified of changes via in-app notifications or email. Continued use of the app following the update constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any legal suit, action or proceeding arising out of, or related to, these Terms of Service or the Website shall be instituted exclusively in the federal courts of the United States or the courts of the State of Massachusetts.
